These Show-Stopping Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls are just heaven, almost melting in your mouth, feeling the butter clogging your arteries, the sugar creating some nice cavities in your back teeth, exactly what I look for in a cinnamon roll. And I almost forgot – something healthy – add some apples, or my favourite, wild blueberries to your rolls and voila, something to make it “healthy.
Mix together the eggs, milk, yeast, sourdough and sugar.
Gradually add the first measure of all-purpose flour and mix it together until it becomes a loose sponge.
Add the rest of the ingredients for the dough and mix it together until it forms a shaggy dough.
Knead the dough until it comes together in a relative loose, but well-kneaded dough. Let that rise until it doubles in size.
While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Mix together the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon until it becomes light and fluffy.
On a floured work surface, roll out the dough to a 24x12” rectangle. Spread an even layer of the filling over the dough, and sprinkle on top your fruit.
Roll the dough up lengthwise and cut into 12 even 2” rolls. Place the rolls in a muffin pan and allow to rise. As the rolls are rising, preheat the oven to 325 °F or 350 °F
When the rolls are ready put them in the oven until they are just perfectly golden brown and completely spring back to the touch, approximately 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!
